Moore Asset Management, Inc. was formed in May 2002, a family owned business. The sole purpose of forming Moore Asset Management was to manage their own affordable housing properties. The Moore family began developing affordable housing in 1997 throughout East Texas. Moore Asset Management has evolved from a long history of family business. The history begins with John S. Moore who founded J.S. Moore and Sons in 1887 as a railroad construction company. The company operated throughout East Texas and Louisiana building road base and laying tracks for the young railroad companies and booming timber industry. J.S. Moore and Sons constructed tram and main line sections of the Santa Fe and Southern-Pacific Railroads from north of Houston through East Texas and transitioned into highway construction in the late 1920s. The company also assisted in the clean up after the Great Storm of 1900 that destroyed Galveston.
